Powell River Public Library

The new Powell River Library is an incredible space which JM&C is proud to have fully outfitted with shelving and furniture.
The eco-industrial design concept of the new space pays homage to the city’s industrial roots by highlighting existing structural details such as large beams and posts and leaving infrastructure such as HVAC systems visible as features of a warehouse-like space.

The colours selected were based on the natural environment of Powell River particularly in the ecosystems of bluffs where conifer forests give way to arbutus, lichen, exposed rock and a variety of grasses.

JM&C’s designers provided space planning services to ensure the furnishings fit into the space correctly .

Montel’s new Hybria 4-post style shelving system was used to lend to the simple, clean industrial look. Other areas that were furnished included lounge seating, study & computer tables, task seating, children’s furniture, workroom shelving, meeting room tables, and book carts.
